Who we are

Independent, and clear about it

Airline and ticket-issuer rules can vary by fare, itinerary and booking channel. Our agents review the booking information and fare conditions you provide, explain general options and help identify the airline or agency that controls the ticket. The airline or ticket issuer makes all final decisions.

We provide assistance with existing bookings. We do not sell or issue airline tickets, and we are not an airline or an official airline support channel.

Where our information comes from

It is worth being precise about this, because it sets the limits of what any independent service can tell you:

  • Information you give us — the booking reference, passenger name, travel dates and what the airline or agency has told you so far.
  • Publicly available information — published airline policies, fare conditions and general guidance from the US Department of Transportation.
  • What we do not have — automatic access to every airline reservation system, or authority to modify every ticket. Where a request must be handled by the airline or the issuing agency, we say so.

What being independent means

Being independent means that we are not owned, operated or authorized by an airline. We cannot override an airline or ticket issuer’s rules, systems or decisions. Refunds, changes, seat assignments, waivers and other outcomes remain subject to the responsible airline and ticket issuer.

When an airline or ticket issuer provides a suitable self-service option, we may identify that option during the consultation.

How our assistance works

  1. You explain the booking question and provide the relevant information.
  2. An agent reviews that information and explains the apparent options.
  3. We tell you whether the airline or issuing agency may need to handle the request directly.
  4. If optional paid assistance is available, we explain its scope and disclose our service fee.
  5. You decide whether to proceed. There is no obligation.
  6. Any airline or ticket-issuer charges remain separate from our service fee.

How we charge

There is no charge for the initial consultation. If you choose an optional paid assistance service, we explain its scope and disclose our service fee before you agree to proceed.

Airline or ticket-issuer charges — such as fare differences, baggage charges or applicable penalties — are separate from our service fee. The responsible airline or ticket issuer determines those charges. Our refund and service-fee policy sets out how our own fee works.

Where we operate

We provide phone-based travel assistance to customers in the United States, including on international itineraries. Office hours are Mon–Fri, 8am–8pm CT; phone support hours are shown beside every call button on this site.

Why travelers call us

A real person, not an automated menu

We are an independent third-party travel assistance service. A live travel agent can help you review the options that may be available for your booking, subject to the airline and ticket issuer's rules.

Answered around the clock

Disruptions don't keep business hours, so neither do we.

Straight answers

We will say when a change may not be worth making, or when it may be better to contact the airline directly.

Free initial consultation

The initial consultation is free. If you choose a paid service, our service fee is disclosed before you agree. Airline charges are separate.

Many airline bookings

Assistance with bookings involving many U.S. and international airlines, subject to the ticket issuer's rules.

Our commitments

What we will and will not do

Transparency matters when customers are deciding whether to use an independent assistance service. These commitments describe how our service is intended to operate.

What we will do
  • Review the booking information and applicable conditions available to us before presenting possible options.
  • Clearly identify ourselves as an independent service, not an airline.
  • Explain when the airline or ticket issuer must handle a request.
  • Disclose our service fee and its scope before any paid assistance begins.
  • Provide general information from official sources when discussing passenger rights.
  • Explain that outcomes remain subject to airline and ticket-issuer rules.
What we will not do
  • Claim to be an airline or an official airline support channel.
  • Guarantee a refund, change, seat, upgrade, waiver or other outcome. Final decisions remain with the responsible airline or ticket issuer.
  • Hide our service fee within an airline or ticket-issuer charge.
  • Request card information merely to provide the free initial consultation.
  • Use personal information inconsistently with our privacy policy.

US passenger protections, in general terms

General information published by the US Department of Transportation. Whether any protection applies depends on the airline, the fare and the circumstances of the itinerary.

The 24-hour reservation rule

For bookings made directly with an airline at least seven days before departure, the airline must offer either a 24-hour cancellation with a refund, or the ability to hold the fare for 24 hours — whichever it chooses. The requirement applies to airlines, not to travel agents or online travel agencies, which may set their own policies.

If the airline cancels

Where an airline cancels or significantly changes a flight and the passenger does not accept the changed flight, rebooking, credit or other compensation, a refund to the original form of payment is generally required — and is generally issued automatically. A voucher cannot be substituted unless the passenger affirmatively accepts it.

Significant schedule changes

DOT rules describe particular changes that may make a refund available if the passenger declines the new itinerary: departure three or more hours earlier or arrival three or more hours later on a domestic itinerary (six for international), a different origin or destination airport, added connections, an involuntary downgrade, and certain accessibility-related changes. Not every schedule change qualifies.

Refunds must be prompt

Where a refund is due, it is generally required within seven business days for a credit-card purchase and 20 calendar days for other payment methods. If that passes, contact the airline or the merchant of record shown on your statement.

Delayed and lost baggage

Where a checked bag is significantly delayed, the checked-bag fee may be refundable. Airlines may also be liable for reasonable expenses caused by baggage they lose or delay, up to a set limit.

Who issues the refund

Where a ticket was bought through a travel agent or online travel agency, the entity shown as the merchant on the payment statement may be responsible for issuing the refund rather than the airline. There is also no US federal requirement for airlines to compensate passengers for a delay itself; meals and hotels during a delay follow each airline's own commitments.

Rules change, and parts of this framework are under active review. For the current rules, see the US DOT Aviation Consumer Protection pages. This summary is general information only. It is not legal advice, and SkyBuzzz does not determine eligibility.
